The most successful of all the Northern Soul venues in Hinckley has to be the Sweet Pea Club, which ran more or less continually for over six years. Organised and run by Pete Wileman and Ady Cope with more than a little help from Colin Chamberlain, it was a monthly venue, normally the last Saturday in every month. A medium-sized venue with a good dance floor, a raised stage and a bar opposite, it regularly pulled 80+ attendees. A fair few famous names have graced the stage, including Hammie and Ady Croasdale of the 100 Club. |

The music played spans the entire 30 years of Northern Soul, from Wigan monsters like 'I Lost A True Love' - Danny Wagner and 'I You Ever Walk Out Of My Life' - Dena Barnes, timeless classics like 'Just Loving You' - Ruby Andrews and 'Emperor Of My Baby's Heart' - Kurt Harris to rarities like 'Cheating Kind' - Don Gardner. | ![]() |
