Hardly the most glamorous sounding of venues, Hinckley WMC has a secret. It houses a marvellous function room, now named The Hamilton Suite, which the HSC used as a mid-week venue when demand was at its highest. A quality dance floor, a raised stage and excellent facilities made this location of the HSC something special. Even though the HSC was only in residence for about six months, this was definitely my favorite venue. |

The oldies revival continued here, with tracks like 'I Go To Pieces' - Gerri Granger, 'Supertime' - The Golden World Strings ('6 O'clock' - Total Eclipse as it has been revealed), 'Out Of My Mind' - Rain, 'Stop' - Bobby Diamond, and 'On A Magic Carpet Ride' - Kiki Dee now recognised as standards. A few newer tracks started to be introduced, including 'I'll Hold You' - Frankie and Johnny, 'Look What I Got' - Gerri Thomas and 'I Walked Away' - Bobby Paris, which soon became monster floorfillers. |
| It had become a matter of fact thing that Graham Evans and the Druids Roadshow would provide the decks and PA for all the HSC events. In fact it became accepted that Graham would do most things, usually with the help of Horace (Brian Horobin). Graham and Horace would organise coaches to Wigan, Derby Assembly Rooms, Nottingham Palais, Birmingham Locarno, and anywhere else that was going. I know it's not a difficult thing, but the fact was they did. In a lot of cases, nobody would bother unless somebody could be arsed to do it. That's what made the HSC special. It made the effort. In fact, Graham and Horace made the effort. | ![]() |
